Join Blue Crew for its inaugural trip to Panama this Spring. We will be visiting Colon Island in the Bocas del Toro region of Panama in the Caribbean Sea near the border of Costa Rica.

Have your previous diving experiences simply been contemplative? Why dive just to see the wonders of the ocean when you can contribute to it at the same time. We have joined together with Ankay Conservation and crafted a week-long expedition. This includes an introduction to coral reef conservation, applying the concepts while diving as well as some fun in the sun touring around its famous beaches.

Some of the unique species that are located in Bocas del Toro include sea turtles, nurse sharks, southern and yellow stingrays, Caribbean squid, angelfish, parrotfish, pygmy three-toed sloths, keel-billed toucans, red frogs, and strawberry frogs. The habitat is a coastal rainforest. The climate is warm and tropical throughout the year with frequent rain.

Nestled between the rich vegetation of the Bocas del Toro jungle is a bungalow which is in close proximity to the dive center and 80 yards from the beach. After an adventure-filled day, enjoy the tranquility of the jungle and soak up the last rays of the sun from one of the terraces. The bungalow is a shared experience for our group with two bathrooms, a kitchen, dining room, living room, terraces, and bedrooms.

The program includes experience dives each day to discover unique species and gain a deeper understanding of the reef ecosystem’s complexity. There will also be a night dive. All meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), as well as a dive snack are included. They will transfer us from the Bocas del Toro airport to the facility and provide us with basic in-country support with local resources. In addition, there will be a conservation course focused on raising awareness of the threats facing the ocean and what we can do about them. On the last day of the trip there will be a non-diving activity to explore the region.

Not included in our program but the possibility of additional activities includes snorkeling with dolphins at Zapatilla and observing sloths in the jungle. There is a chocolate tour in a neighboring village, a trip to a local cave, or even surfing lessons.

Travel to the region involves a flight to Panama City, Panama (PTY). Based on connection times, please coordinate with Blue Crew before you book your flights. There is a one-hour domestic flight to where we will be going. You will not be able to book this through your normal airline means. We can assist you with this. Your flight to Panama should arrive on Monday mid-day. Of course, if you want to fly down the day before and already be in Panama that is an option, but the accommodation wouldn't be included for that night. The connecting flight is Monday afternoon and it is at a domestic airport.
