he ocean is an incredible place, but it faces growing threats from pollution, climate change, habitat loss, and unsustainable fishing practices. The PADI AWARE Specialty course helps you understand these challenges and, more importantly, learn how you can be part of the solution.

During this course, we'll explore the biggest issues facing our oceans and aquatic environments, including marine debris, the importance of healthy ecosystems, and the protection of vulnerable marine life. You'll learn how everyday choices impact the underwater world and discover practical ways to reduce your environmental footprint, make more sustainable decisions, and become a stronger advocate for ocean conservation.

We'll also discuss the work of the PADI AWARE Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to driving local conservation action for global ocean protection. Building on the legacy of Project AWARE, the foundation works with divers, dive centers, scientists, and communities around the world to address marine debris, protect vulnerable species, and support healthier aquatic environments. Through initiatives such as Dive Against Debris and Adopt the Blue, PADI AWARE empowers people to turn their passion for the underwater world into meaningful action.

You don't have to be a marine biologist or an experienced diver to make a difference. This course is open to divers and non-divers alike and focuses on giving you the knowledge and tools to take action both in and out of the water. You'll leave with a better understanding of the challenges our oceans face, practical ways to help, and a plan for making a positive impact in your everyday life and diving adventures.
