The Right Whale- Tales of Resilience and Hope
Documentary Details
The Right Whale: Tales of Resilience and Hope is an intimate and visually stunning documentary that follows the dramatic lives of right whales across the globe—from the icy waters of New Zealand and Argentina to the busy coastlines of North America. Through groundbreaking science and emotional storytelling, we meet individual whales like Bill, who swims from New Zealand to Antarctica and back, and Ruffian, rescued from deadly fishing gear.
While Southern right whales show signs of recovery, their Northern cousins face mounting threats from ship strikes, entanglement, and industrial noise. Filmed in collaboration with scientists, The Right Whale: Tales of Resilience and Hope is both a celebration of resilience and a powerful call to action—revealing the intelligence, grace, and vulnerability of these magnificent creatures, and the urgent need to protect them.
Why The Right Whales Need Us
With fewer than 400 left, the North Atlantic right whale is one of the most endangered whales on Earth. None die of old age. They face life-threatening risks every day from ship strikes and entanglement in commercial fishing gear, threats we have the power to reduce. Their survival is tied to the health of the ocean itself, and their loss would echo across entire marine ecosystems.

Foundation Details
They founded Spindrift Images Foundation, a nonprofit using film, education, and strategic outreach to protect ocean wildlife and ecosystems. They hope to inspire people to act in support of animal welfare, biodiversity, and wilderness conservation.
With your support, they are:
-
Bringing the film to key audiences: Hosting targeted screenings, including a US Congressional screening, to inspire action where it matters most.
-
Driving policy change: Working alongside leading NGOs to defend the Marine Mammal Protection and Endangered Species Acts and push for whale-safe fishing gear and stronger ship speed limits.
-
Educating the public: Creating educational content to help people take meaningful action for whales.
-
Amplifying the whales’ voices: Producing short shareable videos to spread awareness far beyond the film’s release.
-
Empowering communities: Work with local communities to engage the next generation of ocean advocates.
Your donation fuels these efforts, bringing screenings and scientists to coastal communities, and mobilizing thousands of people to speak up for whale protections.
